Raffles London to open at The Old War Office, Whitehall
Raffles Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will be opening a new property in London, located in the prestigious Old War Office building in Whitehall. The historic building, which was once the workplace of Winston Churchill and other prominent figures, will be transformed into a luxury hotel to be called Raffles London.
The Old War Office
The Old War Office building, constructed in the late 19th century, occupies the entire block between Horse Guards Avenue, Whitehall and Parliament Street in central London. The building was previously used by the British government to conduct military operations, including during both World War I and World War II. Today, the Old War Office is a Grade II* listed building and is one of the largest government buildings in London.
Raffles London is set to open in the Old War Office in 2022, and will feature 125 rooms and suites, as well as 88 private residences. The hotel will offer a variety of dining options, a bar, a spa, and a fitness centre, as well as a rooftop bar with views of London’s skyline. The interiors of the hotel will be designed by the award-winning architecture and design firm HOK, who will work with EPR Architects to preserve the building’s historic features while creating a modern and luxurious hotel.
