Whale-Watching in Hermanus
Hermanus is a coastal town located about a two-hour drive from Cape Town. Every year, from June to November, southern right whales come to the area to mate and give birth. Visitors can go on guided whale-watching tours or spot the whales from the shore. Hermanus is known as one of the best whale-watching spots in the world, and is also home to a variety of marine life including dolphins, seals, and penguins.
Penguin Spotting at Boulders Beach
Boulders Beach, located in Simon’s Town, is home to a colony of African penguins. Visitors can watch the penguins from a boardwalk or go down to the beach and share the sand with them. The penguins are not afraid of humans and often come up close for a photo opportunity. Boulders Beach is also a great swimming spot, with calm waters and warm temperatures.
